GUEST SPKRS: Terrance Lang and James Spencer, Co-Chairperson, Choose Black America Association
RE: Immigration Reform Act COME LISTEN TO THE MESSAGE & SUPPORT THE CAUSE

DO YOU KNOW HOW THE IMMIGRATION REFORM ACT

Many of you will agree that the Immigration Reform Act is a very sensitive subject that our politicians are avoiding especially during this election campaign. However, this is a very important issue that affects the African American Community. Politicians are avoiding this discussion because it will cost them votes. We need to be realistic, come together as a WHOLE and STAND UP for our own community and let the politicians know it’s their responsibilities to fight for the American citizen not illegal immigrants. We need to make our elected politicians speak on our behalf and show them we mean business. Please come out.

Mr. Lang and Mr. Spencer will discuss how The “Immigration Reform Act” affects the African American Community and the part we must play to take back our community. The topic for discussion includes:

Health Care

When Todd Stroger announced the recent lay-off and closing of several health facilities. These health facilities were in our community and the illegal Mexican community, but they gained TV airtime and protested. Therefore it was the African American race that lost health facilities. How can our politicians deny an American citizen health care but allow a non-citizen the right to health care?

Crimes

Identity-Theft is a crime in the U.S. of America. An American Citizen would be prosecuted. Recently when the illegal immigrants were raided for making illegal social security cards and drivers’ license again they received TV airtime and stated their rights had been violated and protested. The vast majority of crimes committed in Chicago are by an illegal immigrant who is a gang member. How can an illegal immigrant have more rights than an American Citizen?

Black-Owned Businesses (Stores, Restaurants, Landlords)

There are very few black-owned businesses in our communities. Businesses are owned by immigrants who are here on a temporary visa, is granted a tax credit by our government for a certain period of time, when the time expires, they transfer the business to another relative and receives the same tax credit. As native-born Americans and taxpayers we should be entitle to the same tax credit so we can open up our own businesses in our communities? I remember when there were black owned businesses, what happened? If we do not pay our property taxes our properties are sold. Predatory lenders deliberately gave mortgage loans at a higher interest rate to African Americans and now foreclosure is at a record-breaking peak in our community.

Mr. Spencer will discuss how employers are hiring illegal immigrants and is penalized by paying a small fine, which is nothing compared to their profits.
